This week we made our annual trek down to Lewes, DE. We love coming here because it is so relaxing and picturesque. There are also lots of things to do with the kids, so they never get bored. We usually spend the morning playing on the beach, then after naps we walk around the main street or go to the playground. One morning it was a little cloudy so we went strawberry picking. The kids also do a lot of coloring, painting, playing with the concrete yard animals, and riding in the wagon. But most of all we try to relax and enjoy the casual beach lifestyle.
I make it a point to cook as much fresh seafood as possible while we're here. The first night we had steamed mussels, the second night we ate linguine with clams, the third night we had gumbo. We also ate spicy steamed crabs and shrimp, which is Peter's absolute favorite beach food.
We celebrated Brook's birthday tonight, in conjunction with Theo's (Peter's friend Sam's son). Grandy B brought out his vintage spinning, singing cake plate and the kids loved it. Brooks was singing happy birthday for the rest of the evening.
