Imogen is two!

We celebrated Imogen's 2nd birthday this weekend at the Maple Grove Pavilion in Highland Park. The weather turned out beautifully and we had a large showing, 25 adults and 15 kids!

The City Park pavilions are a great place to hold events because they are set up with tables/benches, grills, trash receptacles, port-a-potties, and often are adjacent to playgrounds. How do you reserve one, you ask? Each year, the Parks Conservancy holds a "Permit Day" (mid-March) where you submit an application for your preferred pavilions. It is a lottery system, so you have to take the luck of the draw. After Permit Day, 80% of the pavilions are spoken for the rest of the year! If you miss Permit Day, you can still get a pavilion, you just have to pick from whatever is left. We didn't know about this process until a month before Imogen's birthday and needless to say, our first, second and third choices were unavailable by then. Luckily Maple Grove came through for us, and far exceeded our expectations. It was adjacent to the "Super Playground", a massive playground that could easily hold 75 kids. Everyone had a great time!
